Erik Stout is a Phd student at Université de Montréal. In December 2017, he completed his Master’s thesis, titled “Transmission et traduction du récit de voyage de Bougainville et de son épisode malouin”. His most recent publications include : “La traduction du Voyage autour du monde de L.A. de Bougainville par J.R. Forster”, in Book Practices & Textual Itineraries, vol. 9 (2019) ; “Transmission des performances musicales polynésiennes lors du deuxième voyage de Cook”, in Revue Germanique Internationale, no 27 (2018) ; and “Mémoires concurrentes autour du séjour de Bougainville à Tahiti”, in Revue internationale d'étude du dix-huitième siècle, vol. 3 (2017). His current research focuses on the representation of travel in the early novels of Abbé Prévost. He will also be publishing articles this coming year dealing with two French writers from the later seventeenth century, Madeleine de Scudéry and Denis Vairasse.
